In 1880, John Muir made his second trip to Alaska accompanied by a friend's dog named Stickeen. He explored Brady Glacier, which empties into Taylor Bay in what is now Glacier Bay National Park. Muir was a great storyteller and told Stickeen's story many times before writing it down as a short story in 1909 at the urging of several of his friends.
As longtime fans of Muir and this work in particular, we gave our company Stickeen's name. This short story profoundly affected us. We encourage you to read it in full.
